"Big lighting brands have continually transformed their positioning from luminaires providers to high technology developers. Apart from Osram revising its organization structure and moving towards to digitalization, Signify has also been expanding its presence in the market of smart applications and establishing IoT systems in Asia.
According to the report by Digital News Asia, Signify has launched its Interact IoT platform in Kuala Lumpur on November 14th. Alok Ghose, CEO of Signify ASEAN, said that the company will assist Malaysia for the digitalization of its manufacturing sector based on the country’s Industry4RD National blueprint announced by its Prime Minister.
The IoT platform will target commercial and professional users to accelerate smart applications including smart lighting, building and warehouses management, as well as enhancing services in the hospitality and healthcare sectors. Alok gave examples of how smart lighting and management systems help offices and logistics centers to collect data via indoor positioning technology embedded in the LED lighting to monitor activities and optimize working process.
The implementation of IoT system also includes a project to connect 1,500 LED streetlights in the state of Malacca with Interact City lighting asset management software which could save up to 80% energy costs. Iconic landmarks in Penang and Ipoh will also be implemented with Signify’s interact platform.
In addition to Malaysia, Signify ASEAN will also launch the IoT platform in Singapore and Indonesia by the end of 2018. "
